It took nearly 40 years, but on Thursday, soccer fans were exposed to what might be their next Pelé.
Fernando Alonso ripped a shot on goal during a celebrity soccer match at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza in Italy. The Formula One driver represented the F1 All Stars in a five-on-five match against the Heineken Football Legends.

Judging by his footwork, the Spaniard might have a career in a senior league after he calls it quits in F1. It’d take the two-time world champion quite a lot of convincing to leave his seat at McLaren-Honda, and considering he’s 35, his chances at becoming a soccer star are highly unlikely.
Still, we admire any time a driver can prove they’re athletic, and don’t just sit there and turn a steering wheel.
