Manufacturers often enlist the help of their factory racing drivers while developing a new supercar. But now there’s a former IndyCar and Formula 1 driver who’s working on a supercar of his own.
Emerson Fittipaldi has partnered with Pininfarina and HWA to build the Fittipaldi EF7 Vision Gran Turismo, according to a press release. The two-time Indianapolis 500 winner and F1 world champion will sell the EF7 under the brand name Fittipaldi Motors.
“Fittipaldi Motors presents the first of a series of cars born from the mind of iconic world champion driver and (two-time) Indy 500 winner, Emerson Fittipaldi,” Pininfarina said in a statement. “His sole mission was to apply all his track knowledge on creating a new experience that will elevate the driving ability of all super car enthusiasts from around the world.”
The car is expected to be revealed at Pininfarina’s booth at the Geneva International Motor Show on March 7, and, as its name suggests, also will be added to “Gran Turismo” games.
No details have been revealed about the car, and all we can tell from the teaser photo is it will be mid-engine with large fixed aero elements. Pininfarina said it will announce more information about the EF7 within the coming days.
