Now that the holidays are over, everybody is turning their attention to 2017. In the world of Formula 1, the year ahead brings with it lots of uncertainty.
During the 2016 season, the third year of the hybrid era, we finally started to see a convergence of performance. This lead to very close racing and surprise winners. Had the technical regulations remained the same for the 2017 season, we’d have a pretty good idea what to expect when the teams show up to Albert Park in Melbourne, Australia.
Instead, there are lots of unknowns for next season, with teams facing radically different technical regulations that promise an improvement of several seconds per lap. We made a list of five of the biggest questions surrounding F1 ahead of 2017, some of which we’ll learn the answer to in preseason testing, others we’ll have to monitor all season long.
