Most examples of the 2016 Porsche 911 R have the trim’s signature go-faster stripes on them, so the ones that don’t are worth slightly less. But don’t think that means they’re inexpensive.
A plain-white 2016 911 R with 58 miles on the clock is up for sale at Miller Motorcars in Greenwich, Conn., for an eye-watering $599,900. For comparison, that’s roughly 325 percent more than the R’s starting MSRP of $184,900.
Believe it or not, though, the example that’s on sale at Miller actually represents good value for money.
Considering Porsche fans — and enthusiasts as a whole — love that the German manufacturer made a 500-horsepower 911 with a clutch pedal, the appreciation isn’t surprising. But we can’t wrap our heads around why any enthusiast would buy such a treasure as an investment, and only enjoy it for a few months.
